Salisbury Steak Skillet
preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Divide the beef into 4 equal parts. Gently roll each piece into a ball, pressing down slightly to form a thick patty. Add cooking oil to a large ovenproof skillet and heat over medium heat. Fry the patties on both sides in a frying pan, then remove and set aside on a plate.
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add butter, onion, and mushrooms. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Saute for 3-5 minutes, until mushrooms and onions are soft. Add flour and stir for 2 minutes or until a roux forms. Add the beef stock and stir to soften any remaining flavors in the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Lower the heat and return the beef patties to the pan, spreading them evenly across the pan. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and cook for 25-30 minutes or until the patties are cooked through. Serve each patty with mushroom and onion sauce. enjoy!
