Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup milk

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse flour. Add the milk a little at a time and mix until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Place on a floured surface and knead 15 to 20 times. Punch out or roll out the dough to 2.5cm thick. Cut out cookies using a large cookie cutter or a juice glass dipped in flour. Repeat until you run out of dough. Shake off excess flour and place cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.
