Homemade Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
For chocolate cake:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup black coffee
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
For icing:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 cup fresh cream
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Homemade Chocolate Cake
Instructions
For chocolate cake:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Fill two round cake tins (20cm) with butter and flour and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In the bowl of a mixer, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed for 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Next, add the eggs one at a time, tapping and scraping the sides of the bowl one at a time. Then add milk, black coffee and oil and stir until smooth.
With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. For icing:
In a medium bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
Add fresh cream and mix for about 5 minutes
Add melted chocolate chips and mix on medium speed until smooth.
Place layer on cake stand and cover top evenly with frosting
Cover with a second layer, spreading the icing evenly over the sides to cover.
Decorate as you like
