Fried Onion Blossom Petals

INGREDIENTS:

Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp. Mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp. Ketchup
  • ¼ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp. Horseradish
  • ⅛ tsp. ⅛ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ pepper

Flakes:

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ panoona paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp. Baking Powder
  • Oil Spray

INSTRUCTION:

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate. Heat
deep fryer to 350 degrees F. Halve the onion, leaving the root intact. Cut each half into three columns and then cut off the root end.Divide each wedge into petals and set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In a large resealable bag, combine flour, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and baking powder. Place the onions in the bag, seal and shake well. Shake off excess flour and add the flakes to the egg mixture.Return to the flour mixture, stir to coat the flakes, and place the flakes in the air fryer.
Brush the onion generously with oil spray; There should be no dry flour visible. Bake for 5 minutes at 180°C, turn the flakes upside down, drizzle again with oil, making sure there is no dry flour and cook for another 5 minutes. Finally turn the onion again and sauté for 5 minutes. Serve with the sauce.
